Summary of Role &Key Responsibilities
Summary of Role We are looking for a Principal Consultant / Associate Director to join our Climate & Nature business line. The candidate will be primarily working for the Energy Transition service line, but it will also support the Climate Risk & Resilience and Green House Gas accounting service lines. The Energy Transition service line delivers unique projects that require quick, innovative and practical solutions.
The work is divided into three pillars: industrial decarbonisation, technical due diligence and mandatory energy reporting. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of strategic, technical, and regulatory advisory services that support industrial clients in reducing carbon emissions and improving energy performance. The role focuses on securing new work, developing compelling decarbonisation and compliance solutions, and building senior client relationships across industrial sectors, but also overseeing high quality delivery, guiding clients on carbon reduction and regulatory requirements, and driving revenue through opportunity development, proposal leadership, and strategic advisory.
It requires combining deep technical expertise with strong commercial leadership to drive complex projects, influence senior stakeholders, and shape clients’ long term decarbonisation pathways. This is a flexible hybrid role that can be based out of any of our UK offices.
- Lead work winning initiatives by identifying, nurturing, and converting opportunities across industrial sectors—manufacturing, chemicals, transport, utilities, heavy industry, and pharmaceuticals.
- Develop high impact proposals, value propositions, and commercial strategies that address client challenges in decarbonisation, carbon reporting, and compliance.
- Build and manage senior-level client relationships, acting as a strategic advisor who understands both business priorities and technical constraints.
- Drive revenue growth through cross selling across decarbonisation strategy, feasibility assessments, low carbon technology implementation, energy audits, and reporting programmes.
- Leverage digital solutions to enhance the delivery and value of project outcomes to the client.
- Translate technical insights into commercially compelling business cases that support client investment decisions.
- Represent the organisation in industry forums, conferences, and client engagements, helping to elevate market profile and brand credibility.
- Support the development of partnerships with technology providers, industry bodies, and innovators to strengthen market offerings.
- Foster a culture of proactive opportunity identification, client-centric thinking, and high performance.
Key Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in industrial energy, decarbonisation, process engineering, or related consultancy/industry roles, with a proven track record of delivering complex technical and commercial projects.
- A degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is preferred, demonstrating solid technical foundations relevant to industrial energy systems, carbon reduction technologies, and process optimisation.
- Chartered status with a recognised engineering or energy institution (e.g., IChemE, IMechE, EI) is preferred, showing commitment to high professional standards and continuous development.
- Robust practical understanding of heat and power generation…
