Senior Site Engineer; Geologist

Overview

Senior Site Engineer (Geologist) – Glasgow. Permanent role with a ground investigation contractor. Site-based, you will supervise and manage teams on small to medium-sized geotechnical ground investigation projects on site, ensuring compliance in technical, commercial, and HSEQ aspects. Responsibilities include logging rock and soil samples (boreholes and trial pits) and conducting field testing and surveying.

• Supervise and manage site teams on geotechnical ground investigation projects.
• Ensure compliance across technical, commercial, and HSEQ requirements.
• Log rock and soil samples (boreholes and trial pits) and carry out field testing and surveying.
• Mentor and support junior engineers; maintain effective communication with site personnel.

• Degree level qualification in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience conducting ground investigations and in-situ testing.
• Contractor background with hands-on field experience (e.g., working on rigs and managing sites).
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proficient with MS Office; full UK driving licence; willingness to travel to various sites.

• Salary: £32,000 – £36,000 per year plus van and fuel card.
• Equipment: mobile phone and laptop.

• 6% pension contributions.
• Disruption allowance: £15/night when working away.
• Subsistence allowance: £20/day when working away.
• Annual leave starting at 24 days, increasing to 29 days plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata with tenure).

Location:

Site based – Glasgow. The role requires travel to various sites.
