Your impact

Supporting a diverse portfolio of major UK and international clients across the maritime, defence, energy and transport sectors, our 100-strong UK Ports & Maritime team forms part of a global network of more than 750 specialist maritime engineers, delivering world-class expertise across commercial ports, bulk terminals, naval bases, breakwaters and coastal defences, dredging and reclamation, marine offloading facilities, and seawater intakes and outfalls.

Due to sustained growth and continued significant investment, a number of exciting opportunities have been created within our Ports & Maritime team.

Joining Jacobs at this pivotal stage, you'll help shape our business, solutions and capability footprint, playing an integral role in delivering world-class, innovative solutions that support decarbonisation, climate resilience and the modernisation of critical maritime infrastructure.

With the opportunity to develop your leadership, technical and commercial expertise, your remit will include:

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Be recognised as a subject matter expert for complex maritime engineering solutions and challenges.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams to develop and deliver safe, high-quality technical solutions that meet and exceed standards, achieve milestones, and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with project delivery teams to identify opportunities to add value, support clients, strengthen our market position, and enhance our portfolio of solutions.
  • Oversee programme performance, planning, design integration and construction interfaces, utilising collaborative digital delivery and BIM approaches where appropriate.
  • Ensure effective governance of change control and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Effectively planning, prioritising and coordinating workloads and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical and professional leadership, mentoring and career development support to foster the continued personal and professional growth of colleagues and peers.
  • Champion the integration of safety into all design and engineering activities, promoting compliance with, and continuous improvement of, business and quality management systems.
Here’s what you’ll need

We would be delighted to hear from candidates who can demonstrate a strong mix of the following skills, experience, knowledge and attributes:

  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • An established technical leader who can combine maritime engineering expertise with programme management capability.
  • A demonstrable track record in the collaborative leadership of multidisciplinary, multi-office technical teams.
  • Experience of delivering projects from FEED and design management through procurement, construction, change management, handover and ongoing asset support.
  • The ability to foster collaborative partnerships through effective stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Commercial acumen, including financial, contractual and change management expertise.
  • A proactive approach to team development, with a commitment to fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing, mentoring and skills development.
