Starting salary - £34,000, dependent on experience, plus overtime, company vehicle and fully funded railway competence development.

We are seeking a Graduate Building Surveyor to join our clients' growing railway structures examination team.
The successful candidate will initially support their experienced examiners on the examination of rail stations, operational buildings, platforms, retaining walls, bridges and other civil engineering assets.
You will receive training, experience and mentorship to progress towards:
- STE
05 competence (rail property inspections) - STE
04 competence (rail bridge and structures inspections) - PTS (Personal Track Safety) and other relevant rail competencies
- Further specialist competencies as your experience develops
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with visual and detailed examinations of railway buildings and structures
- Inspecting stations, roofs, canopies, platforms, buildings, footbridges, bridges and retaining walls
- Identifying, measuring, photographing and accurately recording defects
- Reviewing previous reports and asset information before attending site
- Preparing clear and technically accurate examination reports
- Supporting the assessment of asset condition, deterioration and maintenance requirements
- Attending railway sites throughout Scotland, including occasional night and weekend shifts
- Participating in technical briefings, mentoring, training and continuing professional development
- Following health, safety, quality and competence management procedures
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in Building Surveying, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline
- A genuine interest in buildings, structures, defects and asset condition
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills, good attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Happy to work outdoors and in rail environments
- Be willing to undertake occasional night and weekend work
- A full UK driving licence and is happy travel across Scotland
