Job Scope:

To support our BCEU Engineering function at Bray Controls UK Ltd. in Inchinnan, Scotland, Bray is seeking a CAD Design Engineer - Actuation & Controls.

This development role combines graduate-level product engineering, CAD design, technical support and product lifecycle activities. The successful candidate will provide engineering support and controlled product definition for Bray’s Actuation & Controls product portfolio, while developing the CAD design, product configuration and application knowledge needed to support customers, sales and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Design & Technical Support
  • Produce controlled GA drawings, assembly drawings, installation drawings, interface drawings and customer-facing drawing packs.
  • Create, design, update and maintain Solid Works parts, assemblies and drawings for actuation and controls products.
  • Ensure design intent is accurately captured in CAD models, drawings, BOMs, product data and ERP/PDM systems.
  • Maintain revision control for CAD files, BOMs, drawings, product data and engineering records to support traceability and audit readiness.
  • Support product standardisation, design library development, standard assembly templates and product improvement activities.
  • Provide technical support to customers, sales and operations during quotation and order execution.
  • Support NCR activity through root cause analysis, marked-up drawings, dimensional callouts and practical engineering recommendations.
  • Support documentation updates, including data sheets, manuals, technical notes, product specifications and controlled release records.
  • Develop technical knowledge of pneumatic, electric and hydraulic actuators, controls accessories and valve automation systems.
  • Support actuator sizing, controls selection, product configuration and application reviews for sales, project and customer requirements.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree / HND in Engineering Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Suitable for a graduate or early-career engineer with strong technical aptitude and willingness to develop specialist product knowledge.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including fit, form, function, materials, tolerancing, assemblies and manufacturability.
  • Solid Works capability or clear potential to develop advanced proficiency in parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations and BOMs.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, customer requirements and product documentation.
  • Experience with industrial valves, actuators, controls, automation, instrumentation, rotating equipment, piping components or similar engineered products would be beneficial.
  • Awareness of ATEX, PED, SIL / functional safety, CE/UKCA, quality systems or engineering change control would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
  • IT skills:
    Solid Works preferred, AutoCAD beneficial, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP/PDM systems beneficial.
