We’re working with a growing engineering business operating across the space and defence sectors who are looking for an Electronics Design & Test Engineer to join their team in Glasgow.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across the full electronics lifecycle, from initial design and prototyping through to testing, integration and final validation. You’ll get exposure to a wide range of technology including flight and ground electronics, PCB design, wiring harnesses, instrumentation, data acquisition and power distribution.

What you'll be doing

  • Producing schematics and PCB layouts
  • Designing wiring harnesses and interconnects
  • Building, testing and debugging prototypes
  • Supporting PCB bring-up and troubleshooting
  • Creating and running hardware verification and validation test plans
  • Working with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analysers and other lab equipment
  • Supporting instrumentation and data acquisition for major test campaigns
  • Analysing test results and feeding findings back into design improvements
  • Working closely with mechanical, software and systems engineers
  • Supporting design reviews and producing technical documentation
What we're looking for

Ideally, you’ll have 5–10 years' experience in electronics design, preferably within space, aerospace, defence or another complex electro-mechanical environment.

You should have strong experience with:

  • Analogue, digital and power electronics
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout using tools such as Altium Designer or Zuken E3
  • Hands-on electronics testing and debugging
  • PCB manufacturing, soldering/rework and wiring harnesses
  • Electronics manufacturing and IPC standards
  • Developing products for challenging operational environments
  • Taking electronic products through the full development lifecycle

Experience with EMC testing, RF/telemetry, LabVIEW, SCADA, embedded C, aerospace wiring or environmental testing would be beneficial but isn't essential.

You’ll need to be a UK national and eligible to obtain and maintain UK security clearance/BPSS.

This is a great opportunity for an electronics engineer who enjoys being genuinely hands-on and wants to work on technically challenging hardware across the space and defence sectors.
