What you’ll be doingAs a CAD Designer, you will play a key role in supporting Scottish Power’s expanding Drawing Office, delivering engineering drawing solutions for a portfolio of over 150 projects and more than £30m of annual network investment. Supporting the transition from ED2 to ED3, you will produce accurate, compliant and high-quality drawings for Electrical Protection & Control projects, working collaboratively with engineers and stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of critical network infrastructure.
- Produce 2D drawings and 3D models for transmission and distribution projects.
- Develop feasibility and detailed design drawings to support project delivery.
- Ensure all outputs meet health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Manage your workload effectively and deliver work to agreed timescales.
- Maintain drawing databases and support controlled design change processes.
- Review and assess engineering drawings during approval stages.
- Promote drawing standards, procedures and quality assurance requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
- Support continuous improvement within the Drawing Office.
- Experience producing engineering drawings and models within a utility, infrastructure or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk design tools such as Revit and Civil 3D.
- Understanding of drawing standards, quality processes and health and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across project teams.
- HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
- HNC in Computer Aided Design, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent drawing office experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other Autodesk design software.
- Full UK driving licence with the ability to attend site when required.
