Fleet Manager Overview:

Northern Marine Group is looking for an Technical Superintendent to join the team in their head quarters in Clydebank, Glasgow. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and seaworthy operation of vessels under your control, working closely with vessel crews, clients, senior management and external stakeholders. This is a shore-based opportunity for an experienced maritime professional with strong technical and vessel operations experience.

Key Responsibilities Take responsibility for ensuring vessels under your control are maintained in a safe and seaworthy condition, in line with company, client, flag state and classification requirements.

Act as the key point of contact between ship and shore-based teams.

Monitor the technical operation and maintenance of vessels, including planned maintenance systems, surveys, certification and statutory requirements.

Carry out vessel visits, inspections, audits and drills, providing appropriate reporting to management and clients.

Provide technical advice to vessel staff, the Fleet Manager and Senior Management on operational and non-routine issues.

Coordinate with classification societies, flag administrations, shipyards, contractors, agents and other external stakeholders.

Support the preparation and management of annual operating budgets, dry-docking budgets and voyage repair specifications.

Review quotations, manage expenditure and maintain effective cost control across vessel technical operations.

Prepare and monitor dry-docking and repair programmes, including scheduling, supervision and invoice settlement.

Support casualty response and insurance claim reporting where required.

Ensure vessels are manned with technically competent personnel with the relevant experience.

Liaise with all departments supporting the vessels under your responsibility.

Required Skills & Experience Experience working at sea as part of an onboard management team, with qualifications to perform at a minimum of Second Engineer or Chief Officer level.

Previous onshore experience within a shipping company in an operations/technical capacity.

Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS and MLC.Strong knowledge of vessel operations, technical requirements and safety procedures within chemical, oil or gas tanker operations.

Good financial and commercial understanding, including budgets, cost control and vessel expenditure.

Experience with vessel maintenance, surveys, dry-docking and technical operations.

Desirable:

Unlimited Chief Engineer or Master Mariner Certificate of Competency in compliance with STCW II/2.Degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science or a related subject.

Previous sailing experience as a Chief Engineer or Master.
