OverviewA well-established, specialist engineering consultancy based in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to join its multidisciplinary design team. The company operates at the forefront of highly controlled, high-performance environments, delivering bespoke, turnkey design-and-construct solutions for technically demanding and regulated markets.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with world-leading end-user clients on complex, high-spec projects, refining your technical expertise while contributing to innovative and carefully engineered solutions.
Key Responsibilities Design electrical building services systems including HV and LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, structured cabling, and security systems
Develop detailed electrical designs, specifications, and calculations with senior-engineer support where required
Select equipment and systems aligned with project, regulatory, and client requirements
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Produce construction-stage documentation including layout drawings, equipment schedules, and single-line diagrams
Manage electrical design elements through design, construction, and commissioning phases
Candidate Profile Degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline3+ years’ experience in electrical building services design
Strong understanding of electrical design principles, codes, and industry standards
Ability to think from first principles to deliver efficient, economical, and high-quality design solutions
Basic commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery
Strong communication and coordination skills
Proficiency in tools such as Trimble (Amtech), Dialux/Relux, Excel Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam Full UK driving licence
