We’re looking for an Engineer to join our Research & Engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a passion for innovation, research and technology development to support the delivery of cutting‑edge renewable energy projects across the offshore renewables sector.

As an Engineer, you will undertake the technical delivery of research and development projects, programmes and commercial services. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to a range of engineering and research activities including design, analysis, technology development, innovation support and technical research.

You will help develop innovative solutions to industry challenges, support the advancement of emerging technologies and contribute to projects that accelerate the growth of offshore renewable energy and support the UK's net zero ambitions.

• Delivering technical work packages across research, development and commercial projects.
• Supporting engineering analysis, design, simulation and technology development activities.
• Undertaking literature reviews, technical research and industry assessments.
• Producing high-quality technical reports, analysis and project documentation.
• Supporting stakeholder engagement activities, industry workshops and collaborative projects.
• Applying engineering knowledge to solve technical challenges within offshore renewable energy projects.
• Working collaboratively with engineers, project managers and technical specialists across ORE Catapult.
• Supporting the development of innovative commercial and research opportunities.
• Ensuring activities are delivered in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Representing ORE Catapult at industry forums and stakeholder engagements where appropriate.

You’ll be an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and working within an innovation-focused environment.

You’ll be motivated by technology development, research and delivering practical engineering solutions that support the future of offshore renewable energy.

• A degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, Marine Engineering or similar.
• Experience working within a relevant engineering, technical or research environment.
• Experience delivering technical research activities or engineering projects successfully.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Competency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• A proactive, collaborative and solution-focused approach.
• Experience with in offshore renewables, renewable energy or a related engineering sector.
• Experience using specialist engineering software such as CAD, mechanical analysis or numerical modelling tools.
• Knowledge of engineering design processes and industry good practice.
• Understanding of offshore operations and associated health and safety requirements.
• Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 17025 quality environments.
