Join the Nuclear Graduates programme to develop nuclear safety engineering skills through diverse secondments and professional development in the UK nuclear sector.
Your RoleKey responsibilities include:
- Developing an understanding of Nuclear Safety techniques and their application to Nuclear Reactor Plant Safety cases and nuclear manufacturing facility safety cases for naval and/or civil applications.
- Gaining experience in nuclear safety case structures, deterministic safety methods, and analytical safety techniques such as Probabilistic Safety Assessment, Human Factors, and Severe Accident Analysis.
- Understanding the requirements of nuclear regulators.
- Applying Safety Engineering methods to deliver solutions that meet organisational requirements.
- Developing technical skills to create and maintain nuclear safety cases.
- Gaining a broad understanding of hazards associated with nuclear products and facilities and ensuring protection mechanisms keep risks tolerable.
- Working across three secondments to gain experience across the UK nuclear sector.
- Collaborating with sponsoring organisations including Rolls-Royce, the Office for Nuclear Regulation, and Great British Energy - Nuclear.
The company is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
- A minimum 2:2 Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a mathematical discipline.
- Educational experience of safety in a high hazard industry.
- A strong interest in nuclear power generation.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Right to work in the UK for the duration of the two-year programme.
- Willingness and ability to travel and relocate as required.
- Successful completion of security clearance checks.
- Salary of £30,000 per year.
- £5,500 individual travel budget for training and meetings.
- £3,500 flexible individual training budget.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- 6 discretionary days leave for study and relocation.
