Supporting the project through its pre-construction and construction phases, you will act as Client's key site representative, working closely with contractors, suppliers, project teams, operations personnel and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for rotating plant engineering activities, ensuring compliance with Client's standards, statutory requirements, and industry best practice.

  • Review and assess rotating plant technology submissions, including prequalification, type testing, and associated technical documentation to support Client's approval processes.
  • Liaise with Technical Authorities and project stakeholders to develop Technical Authority schedules, support governance activities, and progress technical deviations where required.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and suppliers through design reviews, project meetings, and technical assurance activities.
  • Provide site-based support as required, including installation and commissioning activities, factory inspections, manufacturing witness points, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
  • Review and verify project close-out documentation, including as-built records, commissioning documentation, operation and maintenance manuals, and health and safety file deliverables.

  • Work closely with Engineering Managers and Project Managers to identify, manage, and mitigate engineering, quality, and delivery risks.
  • Provide specialist technical support on strategically important projects and complex rotating plant engineering challenges.
Requirements

Significant engineering experience in rotating plant systems, including the specification, design, integration, testing, commissioning, and operational support of large-scale power infrastructure. Experience with synchronous compensators is highly desirable. Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex engineering issues and present clear, concise recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Experience delivering engineering activities across the project lifecycle, including design development, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and project close-out.

An understanding of engineering governance, technical assurance, and risk management processes applicable to high-voltage transmission projects. Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and industry best practice, including an appreciation and awareness of CDM Regulations. Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and client organisations. A degree, master's degree, or equivalent experience in an appropriate engineering discipline.

  • Manufacturing (OEM) or operational experience
  • Pathfinder projects or other power system stability and network support schemes.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary design coordination and interface management.
