Civil Engineer - Water Sector, Glasgow. A decade of Scottish Water work starts here.
Scottish Water is about to invest £8.1bn in its network, the biggest programme in its history. Stantec is one of just two Primary Designers chosen to deliver it.
This landmark partnership, which potentially extends to 2039, secures meaningful work from our Glasgow office. Not one project. Not one framework cycle. A pipeline of water and wastewater schemes that will shape how Scotland lives for a generation. This major framework success anchors our exceptional performance across the UK for the AMP8 regulatory cycle, where we have secured exciting new project wins and solidified our standing as the number 1 design consultancy in the regulated water sector.
Most engineers get one programme like this in a career. We're building the team now, and the people who join early get to shape how it runs.
Your ImpactYou'll contribute to projects that shape how developments are planned and delivered, helping to ensure they are practical, compliant, and sustainable. Your work will support the integration of civil engineering solutions within wider project teams, influencing how sites function and perform long term.
Internally, your impact will be seen in your contribution to delivery quality and collaboration. As your experience grows, you'll play a larger role in supporting others and strengthening team capability.
About the RoleYou will join our Water team in Edinburgh, supporting the delivery of civil engineering design across the Scottish Water programme. You will work on water and wastewater infrastructure including treatment works, pumping stations, service reservoirs, pipelines and network schemes, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support. The role is based in our Glasgow office with hybrid working.
Your work will cover site layouts, earthworks, drainage, access roads and hard standings, below-ground pipework and the civil elements of treatment and pumping assets. You will prepare calculations, drawings, reports and specifications, and support submissions for consents and approvals.
You will work closely with process, mechanical, electrical and structural colleagues, as well as clients, contractors and external stakeholders, to make sure designs are coordinated, buildable and aligned with project objectives.
As you develop, you will take on more responsibility for technical delivery, project coordination and client contact, with structured support towards chartership and the chance to support junior members of the team.
