We’re looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to join our growing Scottish Roads and Infrastructure team, based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. You’ll be a senior technical professional, playing a key role in the delivery of a diverse range of projects within a close-knit, supportive and collaborative team.

Working alongside specialists from across our business, you’ll help develop and deliver innovative engineering solutions for our clients, contributing to projects that make a meaningful difference to the places where people live, work and travel.

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering services to a varied client base, including Local Authorities and Design and Build Contractors. Our portfolio spans a broad range of roads and active travel projects, from smaller-scale local improvements through to major national strategic schemes and frameworks.

As a Principal Engineer, you’ll lead the technical delivery of projects, working closely with clients to influence and shape the development of engineering schemes across the region. You’ll also collaborate with teams throughout the UK, supporting the delivery of projects for clients of all sizes and contributing to our wider integrated transport offering.

Alongside your technical responsibilities, you’ll take an active role in developing others, leading, supervising and mentoring junior engineers and apprentices to help them produce high-quality work and reach their potential.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the technical delivery of roads and active travel infrastructure design projects, ensuring high-quality, practical and effective engineering solutions.
• Manage and contribute to projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from concept development, feasibility and planning through to detailed design and delivery.
• Work closely with clients, including Local Authorities and Design and Build Contractors, to understand their needs and influence the development of engineering schemes.
• Deliver a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from local infrastructure improvements to major national strategic schemes and frameworks.
