Mechanical Design Engineer

Working as a Mechanical Design Engineer for Dover Precision Components, you will be responsible for the design of our Inpro/Seal product line, through the use of CAD (Solid Works). You will be responsible for 3D and 2D drawings and tolerancing according to design standards, working work with the sales team, distributors and customers to understand and interpret design requirements and create designs that meet those requirements.

You will also perform checking duties related to assembly and component drawings, part structures (BOM’s) and item specific information for accuracy of design intent and application specification information. Participating in and contributing to process improvement and design for manufacturability (DFM) activities as well as in the development and implementation of company-wide design standards and practices that reflect industry best practices and improved efficiency.

• HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Work experience in an engineered product environment covering machining and 3D CAD product design (Solid Works preferred)
• Experience with rotating equipment or ccompnents thereof, such as turbines, pumps, compressors, generators, motors or gearboxes
• Strong understanding of Engineering Principles and Design Practices
• Demonstrated ability to apply continuous improvement techniques to existing processes and procedures
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail including Microsoft Office, Outlook, ERP Systems (Syteline), and CAD Software (Solid Works)
• Familiarity with the impact of the manufacturing process on the key factors that control form, fit and function.

• Design bearing isolators and other Inpro-Seal products to fulfill customer requirements including on-time delivery
• Analyse information received from customers and utilize CAD software (Solid Works) to create 3D designs
• Create and complete 2D drawings for quoting purposes and for manufacturing
• Collaborate with customers, distributors and manufacturing personnel to clarify design requirements and create solutions through the design process
• Review layout drawings, sketches and design data of parts to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, supporting manufacturing personnel with design intent
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to outline the sequence of operations required to machine parts efficiently
• Maintain the ability to collaborate, multitask and prioritise project timelines
• Read, analyse and interpret technical procedures
• Write business correspondence, effectively present information and respond to questions from operators, managers and clients
