Technical Estimator (Precision Engineering) £55,000 - £65,000 Training Progression Company Benefits 31 Days Holiday Pension Knutsford Are you an experienced Estimator or Technical Buyer with a background in machined components, looking for a senior, commercially focused position within an industry-leading company specialising in the Nuclear and Oil & Gas sectors? Do you want an autonomous role where your technical judgement and negotiation skills will directly influence project costs and profitability, alongside specialist training and opportunities to progress towards Purchasing Manager?
In this role, you will take ownership of technical estimates for precision-engineered components, interpreting engineering drawings and assessing material and manufacturing requirements to produce accurate costings. You will work closely with CNC machining suppliers, evaluate quotations and negotiate competitive terms, balancing cost and quality. You will also identify supply chain gaps and visit supplier machine shops a couple of times per month to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for improvement.
Established for nearly 50 years, this company is a recognised specialist within the valves sector, overseeing Subsea and Pipeline projects from order through to assembly. With technologies approved for use in the pioneering Rolls-Royce SMR programme, the business is expanding its presence within the UK's nuclear energy sector while pursuing opportunities across international markets. This role would suit an experienced Estimator or Technical Buyer from a precision engineering background, looking to take greater ownership of estimating and supplier negotiations within a technically demanding business offering autonomy, specialist development and clear career progression.
The Role:
Technical Estimating and component costings Understanding drawings to assess materials and manufacturing requirements Obtain quotes and negotiate prices Liaise with internal teams and external clients 40 hours per week; 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
