Job Description

We are looking for someone who has experience in all areas of stage management, this role requires a varied skill set, as you will be a TSM, DSM and CM all in one. The Stage Manager will work closely with the Prod LX to set-up the lighting and sound as well as the set. We’re looking for someone who is confident with setting up a touring sound system.

Full training will be given on how the kit works.

As well as being instrumental in the rehearsal process, the Stage Manager will work across both the autumn 2026 phase and the 2027 phase.

Phase 1 is a short two week tour or mostly one nighters, predominantly to village halls and rural communities. The touring company arrives at the venue, unloads the van, gets the set in, the lighting and sound kit set-up, have a meal and then perform the show to a warm friendly audience.

The show ends and the company take everything down, get it all out while chatting to the promoter and then back on the road. It’s rewarding, tiring and fun work.

Phase 2 is a longer tour, which includes a mix short and longer runs at theatres across the UK.

We depend on our Stage Manager to keep everything on track, it takes a lot of clear planning and preparation to make sure it runs smoothly. You need to have a good sense of humour, stamina, confidence, be quick thinking and have a mind for problem solving. You’ll be in charge of daily schedules, making sure you all turn up at the right time, keep the van going, provide support to the acting company, lead the get ins and outs, manage front of house with the promoter and most importantly run the show.

You might be an experienced Stage Manager looking for something new, or you might have just a couple of year’s professional experience under your belt. Either way we’d like to hear from you. You will be supported throughout the tour by the Producer, Production Manager and Pentabus team.
