Financial Crime, Risk Manager/Analyst, Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Financial Compliance
Permanent | Senior Visibility | High-Impact Financial Crime Focus
If you’re a Financial Crime professional who wants more than routine monitoring and box-ticking, this is an opportunity to operate at the sharp end of AML, Sanctions and broader non-financial risk assurance.
This is a senior, visible role sitting at the heart of a major UK financial services organisation’s Financial Crime and Non-Financial Risk framework. You’ll lead risk-based assurance activity across retail, business and corporate banking, with real accountability for driving improvement in systems, controls and customer outcomes.
This isn’t a policy-only role. It’s about challenge, judgement and ensuring Financial Crime frameworks genuinely stand up to scrutiny.
The OpportunityYou’ll take ownership of end-to-end, risk-based Financial Crime assurance reviews, assessing the effectiveness of AML, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption and related control frameworks — and ensuring meaningful corrective action is delivered.
- Leading the planning and execution of risk-based Financial Crime monitoring and testing reviews
- Assessing whether systems and controls effectively mitigate AML, ABC, Sanctions and Fraud risks
- Managing review teams with full accountability for scoping, fieldwork and reporting
- Identifying root causes and systemic weaknesses — not just surface-level findings
- Producing high-quality, senior-level reports that clearly articulate risk themes and recommendations
- Driving enhancement of first line control frameworks and influencing sustainable change
- Contributing to the development and ongoing refinement of the risk-based Monitoring Plan and methodology
You’ll operate with autonomy, senior exposure and the mandate to challenge constructively where standards aren’t being met.
What You’ll NeedWe’re looking for someone already operating at a senior Financial Crime Assurance, Monitoring or Testing level within UK financial services.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end, risk-based Financial Crime reviews (planning, testing and reporting)
- Strong knowledge of UK regulatory expectations across AML, ABC, Sanctions and wider non-financial risk
- Deep understanding of the UK regulatory framework and industry best practice
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to design and execute effective risk management strategies
- Excellent analytical capability with the confidence to evaluate and communicate complex issues clearly
- Credibility and influencing skills to engage effectively with senior stakeholders
- Professional qualifications such as ICA Diploma (desirable but not essential)
- High visibility across Compliance and Non-Financial Risk functions
- Broad exposure across retail, business and corporate banking
- Genuine influence over Financial Crime control frameworks
- Hybrid working with flexibility for part-time or job-share discussions
- Strong overall reward and benefits package including enhanced pension and healthcare options
This is the kind of platform role that strengthens your profile for future progression into Head of Financial Crime, Director of Assurance or broader Compliance leadership positions
