Financial Crime Assurance Manager

Location: Glasgow, Manchester, or Milton Keynes

City Elite are seeking a Financial Crime Assurance Manager to join a leading UK financial services organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compliance professional to play a key role in protecting customers and ensuring the effectiveness of risk controls across retail, business, and corporate banking.

The Role:

You will lead the planning and execution of compliance monitoring reviews, ensuring that systems and controls operate effectively and deliver excellent customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading risk-based compliance monitoring reviews from planning through testing and reporting.
  • Managing and mentoring review teams, ensuring accountability and high-quality delivery.
  • Recommending and overseeing actions to strengthen controls and improve outcomes.
  • Producing clear, actionable reports for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience leading end-to-end compliance or risk reviews (including planning, testing and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of UK financial services regulatory requirements (AML, ABC, FoTE, Sanctions).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Experience managing teams and working with stakeholders across multiple levels.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework of the UK financial services industry, the political and economic environment, and industry trends and best practice across retail and commercial banking.

Desirable:

  • ICA Diploma or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience presenting findings to senior leadership.
