Job description
Rutherford Cross are delighted to be supporting a long standing client to appoint an Interim Senior Finance Business Partner.
Role OverviewA commercially focused Senior Finance Business Partner is required for a 12‑month contract to support a key client based on the outskirts of Glasgow. The role is fully onsite and will partner closely with operational and commercial leaders to drive performance, improve financial insight, and support strategic decision‑making. The position also includes mentoring and developing part‑qualified accountants, strengthening capability within the finance team.
Key Responsibilities- Business Partnering
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, providing challenge, insight, and commercial guidance - Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the budget cycle, quarterly reforecasts, and scenario planning - Performance Analysis
- Deliver clear analysis of KPIs, variances, cost drivers, and operational performance - Commercial Insight
- Support pricing, margin analysis, investment appraisals, and business case development - Month‑End Support
- Collaborate with the reporting team to ensure accurate month‑end outputs - Cost Management
- Identify efficiency opportunities and support cost‑reduction initiatives - Strategic Projects
- Contribute to process improvement, systems development, and operational change programmes - Stakeholder Communication
- Present financial insights to senior leadership in a clear, commercial manner - Mentoring & Development
- Provide coaching, guidance, and technical support to part‑qualified accountants, helping build capability and confidence within the team
- Fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ICAS) or QBE with strong commercial finance experience
- Proven track record in business partnering within a complex or operational environment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and influence decisions
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge constructively
- Experience mentoring or developing junior/part‑qualified finance staff
- Background in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, or similar sectors is advantageous
- Comfortable working fully onsite and engaging directly with operational teams
- 12‑month fixed‑term contract
- Fully onsite (outskirts of Glasgow)
- Salary £60,000–£70,000 depending on experience
