Legal Entity Officer (LEO) - Vice President
We’re seeking a Legal Entity Officer. As Legal Entity Officer (LEO), you will take ownership of a portfolio of legal entities and act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders. You will combine strong technical expertise with business partnership and leadership. This is a senior, high profile role within the Legal Entity Control (LEC) team, offering broad exposure across Morgan Stanley’s investment management business unit.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys accountability, influence and working closely with the business to shape outcomes.
This is a VP level position within our Corporate Controllers, Reporting & Accounting Job Family which is responsible for the accuracy and control of the Firm’s books and records to produce the consolidated firm, segment and legal entities financial statements, including development, management and oversight of financial accounting & reporting systems as well as database management, including capital and liquidity reporting and external reporting functions.
In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm’s financial and capital resources.
What you’ll do in the role. Business partnership & stakeholder engagement- Build strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders internally and externally, including Product Control, Treasury, Business Units, Tax, Company Secretarial and external auditors
- Partner with stakeholders on legal entity and project initiatives, providing insight, challenge and solutions
- Own the quality and integrity of financial reporting for the portfolio, including financial statements, management accounts and variance analysis
- Present value adding financial information to senior management to support decision making
- Drive transformation by identifying and delivering automation and AI opportunities
- Proactively identify and assess risks, including tax, transfer pricing and policy application
- Ensure issues are clearly understood, documented and escalated in a timely manner
- Be an active member of the LEC management team, helping to shape the direction of the function
- Lead and develop a local team, providing coaching, clear direction and support
- Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting knowledge and investment management expertise
- Proven leader who develops teams and builds trusted senior stakeholder relationships
- Experience managing financial reporting in complex environments
- Demonstrated ability to use automation and AI to drive meaningful change
- Strong judgement and understanding of risk and control
