Glasgow The Finance Data team owns the Data Quality Governance framework for the Finance Division. The team promotes best practices for data management with a focus on data quality. The team has global coverage and interacts with members across all areas of the Firm, including Finance, Operations, Institutional Securities, Firm Risk, Wealth Management, Technology, and external stakeholders.
This is a Director level position within our Data Management Job Family which is responsible for supporting data management across Finance including data sourcing, execution of data quality controls, data issues management & data governance.
The Finance Data Sourcing and Lineage team is responsible for managing the authoritative sourcing of data into the Finance Data Warehouse (FDW) from data authorities and enabling the adoption of FDW data by Finance in line with Global Data Quality Policy and BCBS 239. The Firmwide principles establish and communicate best practices to effectively manage data, to assess the impact of data challenges, and to prioritize the remediation of issues related to data across the Firm.
The aim is to source and catalogue complete and accurate data from authoritative sources ensuring the data is 'fit for purpose'.Given the heightened focus on adequate data quality governance, this is a growing team in the Glasgow office and presents a great opportunity to help shape the function going forward and gain exposure to a wide range of functions, products, and management across Morgan Stanley.

What you'll do in the role:
- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
- Responsible for and lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging in-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segments
- Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in work
- Act as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards
- Lead data sourcing and governance initiatives aligned to BCBS 239
- Define and validate authoritative data sources and data lineage
- Partner with Technology and Finance to deliver sourcing platforms
- Drive data quality governance and remediation strategies
- Engage senior stakeholders across Finance functions
- Oversee data issue root cause analysis
- Support development of governance artefacts including data dictionaries and controls
- Lead and mentor junior team members
- Contribute to the preparation of executive-level materials and updates
What you'll bring to the role:
