Pharmacy Technician – NHSGGC Pharmacy Services, North Sector
Primary Base:
Gartnavel General Hospital. This is a full-time permanent role (37 hours per week, Band
4). The post is based at Gartnavel General Hospital but cross-sector working in any North Sector site may be required. The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team and contribute to high-quality, patient-focused pharmaceutical care for inpatients. The role includes medication histories, patient education on high-risk medicines, and facilitating the admission and discharge process at ward level, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, GPs, Community Pharmacy and other Primary Care Team members.
The post holder will contribute to the development of technical services and the extended roles of the Pharmacy Technician.
- Work in the main pharmacy department and at ward level, liaising with the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Provide support to the dispensary and BWOSCC Satellite dispensing areas as an accuracy checker and in ward-based activities.
- Support the provision of pharmacy services to both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Involve in the training and development of Pharmacy Support Workers, Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians and Trainee Pharmacists.
- Take part in training and development to progress technical roles towards advanced practice.
- Demonstrate initiative and maintain professional judgment to benefit patients; lead and motivate a team where required.
- Display effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to organise and prioritise workload.
- National Certificate (NC) in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent.
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Accredited Final Accuracy Checking qualification (all accredited final accuracy checking qualifications will be considered).
Work pattern:
Monday – Friday, 8.45 am – 5.00 pm with participation in weekend and public holiday service as required.
