Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across clinical and non‑clinical roles. We provide acute, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million. A Public Protection Nurse Advisor will join the Public Protection Service – a team recognised in 2023 as the RCN Scotland Team of the Year – to promote high quality, safe and effective public protection and support the delivery of the NHS GGC Public Protection Strategy.
Hours& Salary
Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am‑5 pm (full‑time or part‑time options).
Salary: Pro‑rata for part‑time hours. As from 1st April 2026 the full‑time agenda will be 36 hours (previously 37), with a proportional increase in hourly rate to offset any reduction.
- Provide clinical leadership, specialist professional advice, and case supervision to a wide range of NHS GGC staff.
- Offer expert advice, support and guidance on all matters relating to public protection.
- Collaborate across professions and agencies, making evidence‑based decisions.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team that includes the Chief Nurse, Head of Public Protection Service, Lead Nurses, and Clinical Leads.
- Engage in training and specialist supervision across NHS GGC sites.
- Registered Nurse or Midwife with a first‑level degree.
- Minimum five years post‑qualification experience.
- Evidenced postgraduate master’s level study.
- Postgraduate academic qualification in Child Protection and/or Adult Support and Protection.
- Substantial experience working with children, young people, families and/or vulnerable adults, with a solid understanding of related policy and legislation.
- Willingness to undertake further study in adult and child protection when required.
