Shift pattern: Monday to Friday (Office Hours)

Employment: Fixed‑term post for 1 year.

Job Purpose

The Clinical Innovation Fellow (CIF) is a core member of the Digital Health Validation Lab (DHVL) team as well as the relevant clinical team based on the QEUH Campus. DHVL activities will focus on evaluating a range of health technologies in collaboration with academic and industry partners, facilitating access to clinical expertise, helping formulate research protocols and ensuring successful delivery of projects across a range of clinical areas.

The CIF will engage with R&I personnel to ensure successful delivery from project inception to final reporting and will be supported by the DHVL operations team. The CIF reports to the Portfolio Manager and Clinical Director & Academic Lead.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of clinical workflow that the health technology is expected to operate within.
  • Proactively engage with clinical teams from a range of disciplines and be the first point of contact for clinicians and volunteers.
  • Develop clinical studies working with R&I teams to develop protocol, gain approvals and initiate study.
  • Manage the recruitment of volunteers for trials and proactively work on measures to improve recruitment, with support from DHVL/LL operations teams and peers.
  • Collaborate with appropriate experts such as statisticians, health economists, DHVL operation team members etc.
  • Maintain records and support the recording, monitoring and evaluation processes of the DHVL.
  • Prepare summary reports and present study results to the operations team, clinicians, researchers, innovators and wider audiences as required.
  • Support patient and public engagement activities in conjunction with DHVL communications teams.
  • Provide information to support funding reports and presentations and present progress and updates to meetings with funders as required.
  • As a key member of the DHVL team, the Fellow will be encouraged to register for a higher degree (MD or PhD) as potential progression of the post.
