The Role

Within Renfrewshire HSCP Primary Care Improvement services we are seeking to recruit a Community Treatment & Care Service /Phlebotomy (CTAC) Nurse Co-ordinator to support the development of our local Community Treatment & Care Service/ Phlebotomy (CTAC). Under the Clinical Team Lead you will be accountable for the co-ordination of activities and staff within a defined HSCP geographical area for all of the CTAC primary care service.

The post holder will provide an accessible, appropriate, high quality, culturally sensitive and effective nursing service to patients aged 16 and over within the treatment room and phlebotomy setting whilst working in partnership with other members of the primary health care team and service users. The post holder will function as an independent autonomous practitioner by virtue of in-depth knowledge, expertise, proficiency and experience to lead and enable the treatment room nursing teams to provide a quality nursing service.

The post holder will be the clinical lead who will be accountable for the co-ordination of activities and staff within all treatment rooms within their locality in the HSCP. The post holder will also be responsible for caseload management and nursing activity within the caseload and lead, manage & support the treatment room / phlebotomy team.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • The location for this post is Renfrewshire HSCP.
  • The shift pattern will be Monday - Friday.
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key Responsibilities
  • The post holder is responsible and accountable for the ongoing management of the Treatment Rooms and Phlebotomy Services within the locality to ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. These will be developed in partnership with Patients, Family, Carers and Significant others, and will be evidence-based taking into consideration the lifestyle, race, gender and cultural background, and factors which impact on physical, mental or emotional health.
  • As an experienced practitioner the post holder will perform a wide range of nursing interventions and investigations for patients attending the treatment rooms. Drawing on their clinical expertise the post holder will support patients, relatives and carers in order to achieve and maintain optimum health.
  • As part of the managerial responsibility the post holder will be familiar with and ensure implementation of local, regional and national policies, procedures and guidelines pertinent to all staff within their area of responsibility in the pursuit of the highest standard of patient care.
  • The post holder will have an understanding of the clinical budget and its application in the planning and implementation of care in the area, in order to meet service aims and objectives.
  • Although the post holder does not have the budgetary responsibility for the treatment room service it is his/her responsibility to maintain the ‘notional allocated workforce resource’ or highlight any problems within the team.
  • The post holder will understand and work within the organisational recruitment policies which include equal opportunity policies, confidentiality and data protection policies, when identifying and recruiting to vacancies within the team.
  • The post holder will lead on the recruitment and selection process for the teams, taking cognisance of the dynamics of the wider nursing teams when making decisions.
