The RoleAn opportunity to work within the Youth Health Service (an early intervention service) as part of a multi‑disciplinary team assessing and planning care for clinical issues such as sexual & mental health, risk‑taking behaviours as well as some areas of physical health. In addition, you will offer support around non‑clinical issues such as housing, financial inclusion and training and employment. You will liaise with other statutory and non‑statutory professionals to assist young people to work towards positive outcomes.
The post will be required to work in the evening providing 1:1 consultations as part of service delivery. The post holder will also provide wrap‑around follow up activity out with service delivery times.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern- Location based in West House - Gartnavel Royal Hospital
- Part‑time position (18.5 hours per week)
- Permanent Contract
- Shift pattern for this post is Wednesday evening and flexible Monday‑Friday
Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
Key Responsibilities- To act as nursing lead for health and well‑being of client group and service development identified by Youth Health Service Manager.
- To implement service delivery, support staff (direct and indirect, students) and utilise resources according to agreed programme plans and annual priorities as directed by Youth Health Service Manager to implement a social model of health whilst also providing a clinical service.
- To contribute to the wider work of the Youth agenda by assisting in identifying health priorities particularly in relation to young people.
- To work in partnership with internal and external NHS/Glasgow City colleagues, local schools, Glasgow Life, social work/other statutory organisations, voluntary agencies, parents and young people.
- To provide specialist advice to protect the client group’s health and well‑being from specific risks and to work with others to promote health and well‑being and reduce risks.
- To provide specialist advice and/or deliver clinical service on sexual health issues, sexually transmitted infections, contraceptive and reproductive health issues to service users and other professionals.
Essential Criteria
- 1st Level Registered Nurse
- First level degree
- Specialist post‑graduate qualification in Sexual & Reproductive Health
- Qualification in Community/Public Health preferable.
- Significant post registration experience
- Experience working in primary care
- Experience in making sound clinical judgements independently
- Experience in prioritising /organising / planning workload
- Partnership working
- Awareness of relevant policy & legislations e.g. Child Protection, Children’s Scotland Act 2014
- IT skills
- Report writing
- Excellent verbal / written communication skills
- Ability to apply evidence based practice
- Experience of working with young people
- Current driving licence
