The role:
NHSGGC is responsible for the health care needs of all children, young people and their families within the board area.
The paediatric occupational therapy service is part of the Specialist Children’s Services and provides highly specialist intervention for a total child population of approximately 268,000 (NHSGGC data 2011) 0-19 year olds within the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.
At present the occupational therapy service has an overall staffing establishment of 30.9 WTE.

Shift Pattern – Monday – Friday
Key Responsibilities- Manage and deliver paediatric OT care programmes; coordinate with other disciplines.
- Work with education staff to achieve therapeutic and educational targets.
- Provide OT services in clinics, homes, nurseries, and schools.
- Manage clinical risk, refer appropriately, and follow national guidelines and professional standards.
- Prioritise and manage caseload, including delegated duties.
- Ensure quality standards, monitor outcomes, and act as deputy for Team Lead when required.
- Attend mandatory training and follow local procedures.
- Propose and implement improvements in OT service efficiency and patient care.
- Support strategic and operational service development and deliver training sessions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and reporting.
- Assess, order, and advise on OT equipment; ensure Health & Safety and Infection Control compliance.
- Maintain CPD, supervise staff/students, and participate in meetings.
- Advise Team Lead on service changes to ensure quality and effectiveness.
- Participate in audit and evidence‑based research projects; stay current with best practice standards.
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Health Care Professions Council Registration
- Post Registration Experience in Paediatric OT
- Advanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of Paediatric conditions
- Advanced knowledge of normal childhood development
- Experience of service development both in design and application
- Good working knowledge of all areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
- Good understanding of statistics and their evaluation
