Healthcare Nursing
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The RoleAn opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Addiction Nurses within North West Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service. Glasgow Alcohol & Drug Recovery Service is committed to providing high quality care using an integrated model of care delivery.
Duration, Location, and Working PatternThis is a full time permanent post based within North West Community Addiction Team. These hours will be worked Monday – Friday 0900 to 1700.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis postholder plays a key role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of treatment and care to a client group who often present with complex needs. With the ongoing increase in drug‑ and alcohol‑related deaths, it is vital that the team can respond promptly to addiction issues and engage patients in treatment quickly and effectively. Glasgow has a significant public injecting population and a high proportion of HIV diagnoses, making it essential that staffing levels support engagement in drug and alcohol treatment, as well as harm reduction and blood‑borne virus (BBV) interventions.
The postholder will contribute to maintaining an appropriate skill mix, remain flexible to changing drug trends, and provide supervision and support to junior staff, thereby supporting the development and retention of all team members.
