You must have an HCPC registration to be considered for this post. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Surgical, Vascular and Critical Care Service on a full‑time, permanent basis. It is essential that you are educated to Diploma/Degree level in Occupational Therapy and are registered with the HCPC. You should have significant postgraduate experience, including clinical experience in an Acute Surgical/Vascular area.
This post involves a complex and varied caseload, incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning. You will be clinically responsible for rotational staff, support worker staff and students, inducting, training and managing staff on a daily basis and delegated tasks from the Team Lead. You will lead in service development and service change within the team. You will be actively encouraged to develop through your 4 pillars of practice while participating in CPD, audit and research.
Location, and Working Pattern
- Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Five out of seven days a week, including weekend working
- These posts require the post holder to participate in seven‑day working/extended hours working
- Please note the salary is pro rata for part‑time hours
- Manage a complex specialist caseload providing assessment, treatment and discharge planning to maximise patient independence
- Work autonomously and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver effective and coordinated patient care
- Assess patient needs, including equipment provision and rehabilitation requirements, ensuring safe and appropriate interventions
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audit and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide leadership, supervision and support to junior staff, students and support workers
- Contribute to service development, clinical guidelines and continuous improvement within the Occupational Therapy service
- Communicate complex clinical information effectively to patients, carers and colleagues, supporting informed decision‑making
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration
- Significant postgraduate experience including work within a relevant clinical speciality
- Demonstrable experience in supervision, leadership and supporting staff development
- Strong clinical assessment, reasoning and decision‑making skills within complex care environments
- Experience in audit, research or quality improvement activity
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and autonomously
- Competence in IT systems, including Microsoft Office and clinical recording systems
