Medical equipment is used for the treatment and diagnosis of patients in all areas of a hospital and beyond. Having fully functional and accurate medical equipment is essential for the safe diagnosis and treatment of patients, and it is the Medical Equipment Management service that is responsible for that equipment.

The Medical Equipment Management service is a team of highly trained clinical engineer technologists who are experts on medical equipment. We work across ten hospital sites in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, managing the full life cycle of over 55,000 medical equipment devices and performing over 60,000 jobs per year.

You will work as part of a team of clinical engineer technologists based in Stobhill Hospital but providing a regional service to Greater Glasgow and Clyde and beyond. This will require frequent off‑site visits to repair and maintain medical equipment.

You will have a permanent contract with a working week that is Monday to Friday. Every day is different: you may be called to theatre to help with an equipment failure, commission new medical equipment, or perform planned maintenance in an out‑patient clinic. You will work with a wide range of medical devices, including high‑ and medium‑risk equipment such as an infusion pump.

• Monday to Friday, 7.2 hours per day; starting at 08:45 and finishing at 16:27, with a 45‑minute lunch break
• Full‑time, permanent
• Annual Leave – 27 days increasing with service plus 8 days public holiday (pro‑rata)

• Manage and prioritise a defined workload, ensuring safe, effective and timely delivery of services
• Undertake assessment, implementation and evaluation of interventions within own area of practice
• Work both independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver high‑quality patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers and a wide range of healthcare professionals
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records in line with organisational and professional standards
• Contribute to service improvement, audit and clinical governance activities
• Support the development of colleagues, students or support staff as appropriate

You will undertake a 2‑year competency‑based training programme which will develop your skills to enable you to commission, calibrate, performance assure and repair a wide range of medical equipment.

• Engineering or Technology knowledge to SCQF Level 9
• Experience of the service, repair and fault‑finding of medical equipment
• Understanding of the clinical, scientific, and engineering principles of medical equipment
• Good organisational and communication skills

• Academic qualification at SCQF Level 9 or higher completed at a UK‑based university.
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall score of 7, and no element of reading, speaking, listening or writing below 6.5.
• Occupational English Test with a minimum grade B in the writing section (NMC C+) and only one score lower than B in the other three sections and no lower than C+.
