Night Ambulance Crew

£13.24 per hour plus shift premium and benefits

Full time 38.5 hours per week, 4-on 4-off shifts Sunday to Saturday 8pm-8am

Please note all positions within Funeral care can involve direct physical contact with the deceased as part of normal duties – the amount of contact will differ depending on the role applied for.

Typical duties include but are not limited to preparation, transportation, and personal care of the deceased to be carried out with professionalism, dignity, respect and adherence to health and safety standards.

We’re looking for people to join the Co‑op Funeral care team as night ambulance crew. Just a genuine desire to help people at the time they need it most is enough. Training will be provided.

What you’ll do
  • Collect the deceased during the night from a range of locations and scenarios, in a professional, empathetic and dignified manner.
  • Carry out support activities whilst at the funeral home, including the care and preparation of the deceased.
  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure a clear hand‑over for daytime colleagues.
  • Update and maintain records on both written and digital platforms, in line with processes and regulation.
  • Report to the care logistics manager, carrying out any requests as instructed.
What you'll bring
  • The flexibility to work night shifts.
  • A full UK manual driving licence.
  • The ability to act promptly but in a measured and considered way.
  • The ability to take instructions and follow them to the letter, with a high attention to detail.
  • A calm approach in sometimes distressing situations and the ability to think on your feet.
  • The ability to carry out duties involving manual lifting.
