Fixed‑term contract/secondment until 11 April 2027

Full time (36 hours per week)

Edinburgh/Glasgow – hybrid working (with routine travel for in‑person meetings, site visits, workshops and events)

Healthcare Improvement Scotland is the national improvement agency for health and social care in Scotland. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and positive Improvement Advisor to support Health and Social Care services in developing improved public engagement and volunteer practices. The role will help organisations redesign and continually improve services so that the needs of people for whom the services are intended are central to the change process.

The successful candidate will be a credible leader in engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, providing expert guidance, coaching and training. They will build capabilities in good engagement practice improvement and motivate people and organisations to deliver significant change.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and implementation of a wide range of complex projects focused on improving engagement practice across health and social services.
  • Apply quality improvement approaches and involve people with lived and living experience of health or social care services in shaping service improvements.
  • Provide expert guidance, coaching and training to Health and Social Care organisations on engagement practice improvement.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative environment.
  • Employ effective project and programme management techniques to achieve significant change.
Qualifications
  • Strong background and experience with quality improvement approaches.
  • Experience engaging people with lived and living experience in health or social care service improvement.
  • Excellent improvement, communication and analytical skills.
  • High degree of self‑awareness and proven ability to manage internal and external relationships.
  • Effective project and programme management expertise.
