Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology - Specialist Childrens Services

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology (CAAP) to join our Specialist Children’s Services within Mental Health. Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence-based psychological interventions to children, young people and their families experiencing a range of mental health difficulties.

Within Specialist Children’s Services, we are continuing to develop our services to children and young people where Neurodevelopment Profile is impacting on their everyday functioning. Our team within North West Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire is multidisciplinary including SLT, OT, Nursing, Psychology and HCSW. Our service continues to evolve with an aim of providing complex assessment and diagnosis as well support and intervention for both CYP and their families as well as upskilling wider systems.

• Permanent, full-time

• Deliver evidence-based psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties
• Manage a specialist caseload, providing formulation-led individual and group interventions under appropriate clinical supervision
• Undertake comprehensive assessments using a variety of psychological measures, observations and evidence-based approaches
• Work collaboratively with families, schools, GPs, CAMHS colleagues and partner agencies to support positive outcomes for children and young people
• Monitor, evaluate and report on treatment effectiveness, maintaining accurate clinical records and documentation
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit and research activities within Specialist Children’s Services
• Provide psychoeducation, consultation and training to colleagues, carers and other professionals as appropriate

• Honours Degree in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Registration (G )
• Postgraduate MSc in Applied Psychology (Healthcare) for Children and Young People
• Experience of working with children and young people presenting with a range of mental health conditions and complex clinical presentations
• Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, ideally within CAMHS or a related service
• Knowledge of child development and skills in cognitive behavioural assessment, intervention and risk management
• Excellent communication, organisational and workload management skills with the ability to build effective therapeutic relationships
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuing professional development and delivering high-quality, person-centred care
