The RoleAre you an experienced Prosthetist looking to make a meaningful difference to people's lives? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a motivated and compassionate Senior Prosthetist to join the WESTMARC team, one of Scotland's leading rehabilitation and assessment services. In this rewarding role, you will provide specialist lifelong prosthetic care to individuals with amputation and congenital limb loss, supporting them to achieve the best possible outcomes and quality of life.
Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to manage your own clinical caseload, contribute to service development and help shape the future of prosthetic services. Applicants must be registered with HCPC and have substantial clinical experience. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern- West Marc, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Shift pattern to be confirmed
- Permanent, full-time
- Provide specialist assessment, treatment planning and lifelong prosthetic care for patients with amputation or congenital limb loss
- Manage an autonomous clinical caseload, making informed clinical decisions to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care
- Assess patient needs and design, prescribe and oversee the manufacture and fitting of custom prosthetic devices
- Work collaboratively with consultants, therapists, nurses, technicians and other healthcare professionals within a multidisciplinary team
- Support service development, clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and research activities
- Supervise, support and provide guidance to junior staff and students, contributing to education and workforce development
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, quality systems, health and safety requirements and departmental policies
- State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Honours Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from a recognised institution, or an equivalent qualification that permits HCPC registration
- Minimum of two years post-graduate experience in prosthetic practice, with broad clinical experience desirable
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development and commitment to maintaining specialist knowledge and skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and motivational skills, with the ability to support patients through complex rehabilitation journeys
- Strong clinical reasoning, problem-solving and decision‑making skills, particularly in complex clinical situations
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while managing an independent clinical workload and competing priorities
