The role:Your role in this job would be to plan, organise, prioritise, and maintain the day-to-day administrative tasks associated with the functionality of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre Macmillan Day Unit. The post holder acts as a focal point for patients attending the service, ensuring that patient information is accurate and up to date.
You will require a UK driving license for this post, as the post holder will work across various NHS GGC sites and will be required to alternate locations as required (may be daily, weekly or monthly).
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Shift Pattern:
Monday - Friday : 08.30 am – 4.30 pm.
- Act as the main point of contact for patients attending the unit.
- Ensure all patient demographic information is accurately maintained on patient records and the patient administration system.
- Support the Team Lead with referral management processes.
- Accurately record and process referrals from receipt through to placement on the patient pathway.
- Schedule appointments in partnership with patients, ensuring compliance with clinical priorities, waiting time targets, and New Way rules.
- Liaise with clinicians to coordinate and plan patient management.
- Respond to telephone enquiries from internal and external agencies.
- Monitor and maximise service capacity utilisation.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of data entry.
- Collate, analyse, and summarise database information to produce statistical reports for management.
- Provide cover for the Clinical Bed Manager in managing emergency and elective admissions for Specialist Oncology Services and Clinical Haematology.
- Knowledge of patient administration systems and patient pathway management.
- Understanding of referral management processes and waiting time targets.
- Knowledge of appointment scheduling procedures and New Way rules.
- Experience in maintaining accurate patient records and data entry.
- Ability to produce statistical and management reports from database information.
- Understanding of admission management processes within oncology and haematology services.
- Strong communication and liaison skills for working with clinicians, patients, and external agencies.
