NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Improvement Practitioner to join our Health Improvement Team within Glasgow City HSCP. Working as part of a dynamic and supportive team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering health improvement initiatives that reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for local people.

This post will primarily focus on smoking prevention and smoking cessation. All team members are also required to deliver on and support programmes of work across the wider Health Improvement team. The Glasgow City QYW service have recently undergone a service review and is currently in the implementation phase of this. This post will initially be hosted within Pollok Health Centre with responsibilities to deliver services citywide.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • Glasgow City HSCP
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
  • Permanent, full-time
Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver health improvement programmes and work streams that improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with colleagues, community groups, voluntary organisations and statutory partners
  • Analyse health and inequalities data to identify local needs and inform targeted health improvement activity
  • Provide specialist health improvement advice, guidance and support to partners and stakeholders
  • Design, deliver and evaluate training and development activities to build health improvement capacity across communities and organisations
  • Lead and contribute to working groups, networks and forums to progress key health improvement priorities
  • Support community engagement activity, ensuring local communities have opportunities to influence health improvement planning and delivery
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Experience working within health improvement, public health or a related health improvement environment
  • Knowledge of health improvement theory, health inequalities and the wider public health agenda
  • Experience of partnership working, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and collaborative problem solving
  • Strong facilitation, training and group work skills with experience of engaging a variety of audiences
  • Excellent written, verbal, organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience of research, evaluation, data analysis and using evidence to inform practice and service development
