Job Description & How to Apply Below

This post is offered on a 12 month Secondment basis

Based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Neurorehabilitation Unit (NRU), this is an exciting opportunity for a clinical/neuropsychologist to undertake a secondment in to a highly specialist neurorehabilitation unit. The psychologist will be part of the wider regional neuropsychology service who provide acute and rehabilitative care to patients with neurological disorders in NHS GGC and Regional services. This includes offering sessions to support inpatient rehabilitation to Inverclyde rehabilitation unit.

The Neuropsychology service has close links with University of Glasgow and are active participants in CPD and research is encouraged.

In this seconded post, the candidate will be working within NRU but may offer support across regional services and be part of a team of Clinical and Neuropsychologists working to support multidisciplinary team working in neuroscience services, major trauma, spinal injuries and the Scottish Epilepsy Centre. The post has the benefit of working closely with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing and AHP staff.

In this specific role, the post holder will provide highly specialist clinical/neuropsychological services to patients admitted to the NRU and will work in partnership with patients and their families to assess, formulate and develop individual interventions and rehabilitation plans.

Owing to the highly specialist nature of the post and the need for flexibility in service provision across a range of neuropsychology settings, the post holder must have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC. Advanced knowledge of neuropsychological assessment tools and their interpretation would be desirable.

Experience of working in a neuropsychology/rehabilitation service, either in qualified experience or as part of the specialist placement in the DClinPsy degree, would be an advantage.

This post will be attractive to clinical psychologists with an interest in physical health and neuropsychology as the breadth of work will include diagnostics, cognitive rehabilitation, psychological therapies, family work, and MDT consultations.

We would encourage candidates with knowledge and experience within acute physical health setting to apply owing to the range of skills required for this post. Our service offers placements for trainee clinical psychologists and employs assistant psychologists. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate has completed necessary supervisory training requirements to step in to these roles if required.

The successful applicant will be dynamic, organised, have a desire and drive to participate in service development, show flexibility regarding roles and tasks, and respond to the changing needs of the service. Although the post is primarily based in the Neurorehabilitation Unit, the post holder may be asked to work flexibly across regional neuropsychology services (neurology, neurosurgery, neurorehabilitation, spinal and prosthetics) based on service need.
