NHS Borders is seeking an experienced Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to provide specialist pharmaceutical input to the Adult ADHD pathway within Adult Community Mental Health Services. This is a small, targeted role focused on ensuring the safe, effective and consistent use of ADHD medication across the system.

The postholder will act as the specialist pharmacy lead for Adult ADHD, supporting prescribers, services and governance arrangements, with a particular focus on annual review processes, controlled drug safety, and alignment between Primary and Secondary Care.

• Provide expert pharmaceutical advice on ADHD medication for adults, including complex prescribing and polypharmacy
• Support safe and effective prescribing within the Adult ADHD pathway, including medicines optimisation and risk mitigation
• Provide oversight and advice regarding controlled drugs, shared care arrangements and prescribing governance
• Advise CMHT clinicians, GPs and Non Medical Prescribers on ADHD medication, monitoring requirements and best practice
• Contribute to the development, review and assurance of policies, protocols and prescribing guidance relating to Adult ADHD
• Support audit, monitoring and review of ADHD prescribing patterns, safety incidents and variance
• Provide specialist advice to support annual ADHD reviews and continuity of prescribing across care interfaces
• Contribute to service development and quality improvement within the Adult ADHD pathway
• Registered pharmacist with current GPhC registration
• Substantial postregistration experience in mental health or specialist clinical pharmacy
• Advanced therapeutic knowledge and experience of medicines optimisation
• Experience advising on complex prescribing and medication safety
• Ability to work autonomously and provide expert advice within a multidisciplinary setting
• Independent Prescriber qualification or willingness to work towards
• Experience of advising on ADHD medication or other neurodevelopmental conditions
• Experience of audit, quality improvement or guideline development
• Experience of working across primary and secondary care interfaces
