The role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly Community Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Service across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. You will work with children and young people aged 0-18 years, supporting those with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. As part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will deliver assessment, diagnosis, intervention and pre‑referral activity that makes a meaningful difference to children and their families.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • Our team is based across two sites - Stobhill Hospital and The West Centre
  • Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30
  • Full‑time, permanent
Key responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose and provide evidence‑based speech and language therapy interventions for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs
  • Manage and prioritise your own clinical caseload, ensuring effective and timely service delivery
  • Deliver pre‑referral and Stage 1 activities to support early intervention and improved access to services
  • Work collaboratively with families, education staff, health professionals and partner agencies to develop and implement individualised goals and care plans
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, reports and activity data in line with professional, legal and organisational requirements
  • Participate in clinical supervision, peer review, service development, audit and quality improvement activities
  • Support the training, supervision and development of support staff, students and colleagues as required
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Degree or Honours Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent recognised qualification
  • Certificate to Practise awarded by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Understanding of speech, language and communication disorders and a range of therapeutic approaches relevant to paediatric services
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and report writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing competing priorities
  • Understanding of relevant national and local health, social care and education policies together with a commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice
