The RoleThe successful candidate will independently assess, diagnose and manage patients with complex musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, providing expert clinical advice, treatment and referral management across MSK pathways. They will undertake advanced clinical investigations, identify and manage clinical risks, develop and implement evidence‑based care pathways, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, GPs and allied health professionals. The post holder will contribute to service improvement initiatives, clinical governance, research, audit and policy development, while supporting workforce development through teaching, training and mentorship.
They will also assist with service planning, resource allocation and the ongoing development of advanced practice within the MSK service, ensuring high standards of patient care and professional practice are maintained at all times.

18 Hours (Monday to Friday)

- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy with current HCPC registration.
- Evidence of postgraduate study at MSc level or equivalent experience in a relevant specialist area.
- Significant postgraduate experience within Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy.
- Advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills.
- Knowledge of orthopaedic, rheumatological and neurological conditions and treatment pathways.
- Experience of requesting or interpreting diagnostic investigations, including imaging and blood tests.
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance, clinical audit and quality improvement methodologies.
- Experience of multidisciplinary and cross‑sector working.
- Evidence of teaching, training and supporting the development of colleagues and students.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining an advanced practice portfolio.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based practice, research processes and implementation of clinical guidelines.
- Understanding of NHS policies, professional standards and legislation relevant to Physiotherapy practice.
