The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Dietitian to join the Community Nutrition and Dietetic Service within the North East Quadrant of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The post holder will work within professional standards set by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and relevant professional bodies to deliver a high-quality dietetic service for adults, children and their carers.

The role involves providing evidence-based nutritional assessment, treatment and advice across a range of community settings, including patients' homes, outpatient clinics, care homes and supported accommodation. The successful candidate will also contribute to health improvement initiatives, service development, education and training activities, while working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across health and social care services.

Key responsibilities:

The post holder will manage a varied caseload of adults and paediatric patients requiring specialist dietetic assessment and intervention. Responsibilities include assessing nutritional status, developing and monitoring individualised nutritional care plans, supporting patients with complex medical and social needs, undertaking home visits, delivering clinics across a range of clinical specialties and providing expert nutritional advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

The role includes contributing to health improvement programmes and public health initiatives, supporting service evaluation and quality improvement activities, maintaining accurate clinical records, participating in audit and research activities, and ensuring patient care is delivered in line with professional, legal and organisational standards. The successful candidate will also provide supervision and mentorship to students and support staff, contribute to multidisciplinary education and training programmes, and support the ongoing development of the Community Dietetic Service.

Knowledge,

training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

BSc (Hons) in Dietetics or equivalent recognised qualification.
Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Membership of the PVG Scheme / Disclosure Scotland.
Current UK driving licence. (Essential)
Knowledge of evidence-based dietetic practice across adult and paediatric services.
Understanding of nutritional assessment, care planning and treatment of complex patients.
Knowledge of health improvement and public health nutrition initiatives.
Understanding of Scottish Government and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde nutritional policies and guidance.
Experience of multidisciplinary working within community healthcare settings.
Ability to provide education, training and mentorship to students and healthcare professionals.
Knowledge of quality improvement, audit and service evaluation methodologies.
Competent IT skills and experience of electronic patient record systems.
Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and reflective practice.
Understanding of professional, ethical and legal responsibilities relating to dietetic practice and patient care.
