Pharmacist - Corporate, Pharmacy Services

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Foundation Pharmacist to join Pharmacy Services at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for pharmacists looking to develop their clinical knowledge and skills within a supportive learning environment while undertaking the RCPharm Enhanced Curriculum and Credential pathway.

As part of a structured rotational programme, you will gain experience across a wide range of specialties and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical care.

• 36 Hours (8.30am – 5pm Mon, Tues, Thur & Fri and 8.30am – 12.30pm Wednesday. Will also take part in Extended hours shift pattern to 6.30pm on a rota basis. Also take part in weekend, public holidays and on call rotas.)

The post holder will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care services on a rotational basis across a variety of clinical specialties and pharmacy service areas. Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will support safe and effective medicines use through clinical review, medicines optimisation, patient counselling, discharge planning, and prescribing support. You will undertake pharmaceutical care activities including medicines reconciliation, care planning, clinical screening of prescriptions, participation in ward rounds, and provision of specialist medicines advice to healthcare professionals, patients and carers.

The role includes contributing to clinical governance, audit, service improvement initiatives, and supporting continuity of care across healthcare settings. You will also participate in the Foundation Training Programme, develop your professional practice through ongoing education and training, and contribute to the supervision and development of students, trainees and pharmacy support staff.

• Master's Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), or due to register upon completion of foundation training
• Completion of, or currently undertaking, Foundation/Pre-registration Pharmacist Training
• Commitment to completing the RCPharm Enhanced Curriculum and Credential pathway
• Knowledge of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical care delivery
• Understanding of medicines legislation, including:
  • Medicines Act 1968
  • Misuse of Drugs Act 1971
  • Poisons Act 1972
  • COSHH and Health & Safety legislation
• Knowledge of medicines governance, prescribing guidance and professional standards
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Strong clinical reasoning, analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Good numeracy, organisational and IT skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a busy healthcare environment
• Commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control principles
