Organised, approachable, and interested in starting a career in HR? We’re looking for an HR Administrator to join the Leekes HR team on a 6–7 month temporary basis
, providing support across the day-to-day running of our HR function.

This is an entry-level role, so you don’t need years of HR experience. We’re looking for someone who’s organised, keen to learn, comfortable working with people and has a good eye for detail. Our head office is based just 10 minutes from the M4 at our Llantrisant store (junction 34) and is easily accessible by all forms of transport.

This is a role which is largely office based but there is some opportunity for flexible working.

About the role:

You’ll work alongside our HR team, providing administrative support across a wide range of HR activities and getting hands‑on experience of how the different parts of the employee journey work.

From helping with recruitment and welcoming new starters to keeping employee records up to date and supporting training, you’ll get exposure to a variety of HR processes and responsibilities throughout your time with us.

You’ll be one of the first points of contact for colleagues with HR queries, so being friendly, approachable and confident speaking to people is important. You’ll also need to be comfortable working with confidential information and paying attention to the small details that matter in HR.

As this is a temporary 6–7 month role, it’s a great opportunity to build practical HR experience, develop your administration skills and get a real insight into working within an HR team.

About the team:

Leekes is a family-owned, independent retailer with 130 years’ experience helping customers create beautiful homes. We operate four large home department stores across South Wales and the West Country alongside two dedicated furniture and kitchen stores in Bristol (Park Furnishers) and Cheltenham.

You’ll report to the HR Manager and work closely with the wider HR team in a busy, supportive and people-focused environment.

We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn — you don’t need to know everything on day one. What matters most is having the right attitude and being ready to get stuck in.

Key responsibilities:
  • Providing day-to-day administrative support to the HR team
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
  • Updating HR systems with new starter, leaver and employee information
  • Preparing HR letters, documents and correspondence
  • Helping with recruitment administration and arranging interviews
  • Communicating with candidates and colleagues throughout the recruitment process
  • Supporting pre-employment checks, including references and right-to-work documentation
  • Preparing new starter paperwork and onboarding packs
  • Helping to coordinate colleague inductions
  • Supporting training bookings and maintaining the LMS
  • Supporting the HR team with payroll administration
  • Assisting with colleague benefits, discount schemes and uniform ordering
  • Answering HR queries and managing the shared HR mailbox
  • Answering incoming calls and directing enquiries appropriately
  • Helping with HR projects and general administration as required
About you:
  • You’re interested in building a career in HR
  • You may have some previous administration, customer service or office experience, but this isn’t essential
  • You’re organised and have good attention to detail
  • You’re confident using, or willing to learn, Microsoft Office 365, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
