What is the role?

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Technology to lead our Biotrack

OS technology team, drive technical strategy, and oversee the development and evolution of our web, mobile, and platform ecosystem. This role will report directly into the CEO, Biotrack

OS.

This leader will bring deep expertise in Swift, Kotlin, and modern web technologies and frontend frameworks, along with strong architectural and systems thinking across backend and cloud environments. The role requires the ability to lead cross-functional technical teams while shaping long-term platform direction, governance, and scalability.

This position assumes executive-level responsibility for the organisation’s technology function and ensures continuity of platform strategy, architectural integrity, and technology governance.

Key responsibilities of the role:
Technical Leadership
  • Define and execute the overall technology strategy aligned with organisational goals.
  • Provide architectural leadership and oversee the design and implementation of scalable, high‑performing mobile (Swift, Kotlin), web, and backend systems.
  • Oversee SDK strategy and platform integrations, ensuring scalable APIs and interoperability across third‑party systems.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards, engineering best practices, and long‑term architectural roadmaps.
Team & Project Management
  • Lead, mentor, and grow multidisciplinary engineering teams, including mobile, web, backend, QA, Dev Ops, and data.
  • Manage full project life cycles—from concept through delivery—ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and business requirements are consistently met.
  • Foster a collaborative, results‑oriented engineering culture with emphasis on accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Application & Platform Ownership
  • Oversee ongoing development, optimisation, and lifecycle management of web and mobile applications.
  • Ensure high standards of reliability, performance, and scalability across all systems.
  • Partner with Product, UX, and business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into technical roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Lead strategy and best practices across distributed systems and scalable cloud platforms.
  • Oversee data architecture, ingestion pipelines, storage solutions, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Ensure robust data governance frameworks across all platforms.
Security & Compliance
  • Own the organisation’s cybersecurity posture, including secure SDLC practices, penetration testing, and vulnerability management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA where applicable).
  • Oversee encryption standards, access controls, identity management, and secure infrastructure design.
  • Establish and maintain formal technology governance, risk management, and incident response frameworks.
  • Provide oversight of internal IT governance frameworks, including identity and access management, SaaS system oversight, endpoint security, vendor risk controls, and business continuity planning.
  • Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure platform readiness for enterprise and healthcare environments.
Operational Excellence
  • Define and monitor KPIs related to engineering performance, system uptime, quality, and delivery velocity.
  • Manage technology budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships.
  • Introduce automation, tooling, and operational processes that improve engineering efficiency and product quality.
  • Support executive discussions, due diligence processes, and enterprise procurement requirements where needed.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, including 4+ years leading technical teams.
