Linux & DevOps Engineer

Linux & Dev Ops Engineer – Glasgow – Hybrid – 3 days on site

Our Glasgow‑based technology client who are investing heavily in strengthening and scaling its infrastructure. They are looking for a hands‑on Linux & Dev Ops Engineer to take ownership of critical environments across on‑prem, virtualised and cloud platforms.

This is a role for someone who loves diving into complex technical challenges, automating everything possible, and building secure, resilient systems that scale. You will work across the full stack, from Linux systems to CI/CD pipelines, container platforms, and network engineering.

• Managing and optimising Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows server estates
• Supporting virtualisation and cloud environments:
  VMware, Proxmox, AWS
• Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
• Automating deployments and configuration with Terraform and Ansible
• Building and operating Docker and Kubernetes platforms
• Designing and troubleshooting LAN, WAN and WLAN networks
• Managing firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing and security controls
• Monitoring availability, performance and security across systems
• Supporting incident response, root‑cause analysis and disaster recovery

• 4+ years commercial experience including Dev Ops, systems administration or infrastructure engineering
• Hands‑on experience with virtualisation and cloud (VMware, AWS)
• Strong networking fundamentals:
  TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, routing
• Experience with CI/CD, shell scripting (Bash, Python or Power Shell)
• A proactive, automation‑first mindset with a focus on reliability and security
• Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Certifications (AWS, VMware, Azure, SRE)
• Networking certifications (CCNA / CCNP)
• Knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog or similar tools
