This is not one of those senior roles where you spend all week in meetings and barely touch code.

You’d be joining a financially strong SaaS product business delivering software into the UK public and private sector. The products are live, the engineering challenges are real, and this role sits in a strong middle ground between leadership, architecture, and hands-on development.

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you’ll help set technical direction, support the team, stay close to the code, and play a key part in architectural decisions.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead from the front.

That means solving complex technical problems, shaping standards and approach, supporting other developers, and staying hands-on where it counts most.

The environment is modern Type Script and AWS, with strong backend engineering at the core. AWS CDK and infrastructure as code are essential, alongside microservices and modern web and mobile product development.

This is a role for someone who wants real influence over how things are built, not just responsibility for delivering tickets.
