Value Delivery Consultant – Water Systems

The UK's critical national infrastructure is facing once-in-a-generation challenges driven by climate change, demand growth and changes in population.

Overview

As a Value Delivery Consultant at BMA, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Decisio™ platform. Your focus will involve leveraging expertise in planning and data science to optimise the performance of water or energy systems, as part of a team providing analytics services across industry verticals.

Your Impact
  • Work with the Decisio™ platform to model and optimise raw and potable water systems
  • Translate complex regulatory and operational requirements into data-driven scenarios
  • Use digital business twins and optimisation tools to support long-term infrastructure decisions
  • Initial focus on water systems, with opportunities to expand into wastewater, bioresources and energy
Responsibilities
  • Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through proactive understanding of client business requirements
  • Lead workshop sessions to determine modelling requirements
  • Collaborate on systems planning and efficiency optimisation
  • Learn BMA's core technologies and the proprietary Decisio™ platform
  • Gather, transform, and validate data to design solutions
  • Conduct scenario analysis and network design optimisation
  • Develop mathematical models to meet internal and client requirements
  • Participate in system development, testing, deployment, and feedback
  • Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Mathematics, Engineering, Water Engineering, Water Sciences, Data Science, Statistical/Decision Sciences, or a STEM equivalent
  • Proficiency in advanced analytics and data science: statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling, and optimisation algorithms
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, plus familiarity with MS SQL Server, Python, R, linear programming, and optimisation technologies
  • Track record of driving innovation, delivering tangible results, and thriving in fast-paced environments
  • Exceptional communication, translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams
Advantageous
  • Experience with industry optimisation models (e.g. PyWR)
  • Wastewater regulatory and best-practice knowledge
  • Scenario analysis and investment planning experience
  • AI/ML experience with machine learning models or neural networks
  • Familiarity with AI-powered planning tools, digital twin platforms, or decision intelligence systems
