We are seeking a Senior Dev Ops Engineer to add to our Data and Analytics team to aid in the transition to a Dev Ops model of operation. You would be a strong culture-carrier, responsible as part of a team for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and observability capabilities. The role provides technical leadership across engineering teams, driving Dev Ops best practices, enhancing software delivery performance, and embedding security, reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Experience in Dev Ops, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, Cloud Watch, Route 53, and networking services.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Cloud Formation.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Git Lab CI, Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, or similar tooling
Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include
  • Strong experience with monitoring, observability, logging, and alerting platforms.
  • Experience defining operational metrics, SLOs, SLIs, and service health reporting
  • Knowledge of resilience engineering, chaos testing, and reliability engineering practices.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed tracing and application performance monitoring (APM).

This role is based out of our Glasgow office.

Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support efficient and repeatable software delivery.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using industry-standard tooling and frameworks.
  • Automate manual operational processes to improve consistency, quality, and speed of delivery.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure, within AWS and hybrid environments.
  • Ensure platforms are secure, highly available, scalable, and cost-efficient.
  • Develop platform standards, reusable components, and self-service capabilities.
