Job PurposeThe Test Analyst will support high quality software testing (manual and automated) across various platforms and systems within Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodology to improve the quality of the products delivered by the service. They will test functional and non-functional aspects of system products, integrations and related services, using an iterative approach, to demonstrate a satisfactory level of quality has been achieved
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesA1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar related role(s).
Or:
Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 (Ordinary Degree, Scottish Vocational Qualification level
4) or equivalent (including professional accreditation with relevant formal training) and experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).
A2 ISTQB Foundation level Certified Professional.
A3 Professional working knowledge of running SQL queries and testing API Web services.
A4 Working knowledge of software testing principles/concepts, software development and release lifecycle.
Desirable:B1 Professional working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, QMetry or comparable software tools to streamline the process of reporting, tracking, and resolving defects.
B2 An understanding of risk management.
Skills Essential:C1 Ability to devise, develop and implement test plans in consultation with key stakeholders and the Test Manager.
C2 Ability to write test scripts for manual and automated testing on software applications.
C3 Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work effectively as part of a team.
C4 Ability to manage and prioritise workload amongst many projects, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure flexibly to support system upgrades.
C5 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions and associated documentation.
C6 Excellent communications and interpersonal skills both written and oral.
C7 Ability to apply initiative and professional judgement to independently resolve unforeseen issues and challenges.
Desirable:D1 Ability to forge effective relationships in a complex matrix management environment.
